So, i have a Z3 build year 2001 with a 1.9L engine. Should this model have the following fitted?

Fuel filter cover
Engine under tray/splash shield
Gearbox under tray/splash shield

If so, I am missing all three. Is the engine and gearbox tray/s separate or are they joined together?

Many thanks

Ken

Not sure on the filter cover, the undertrays were fitted to some but not all models. I seem to remember that they weren't fitted to later 1.9's but I could be wrong!

If you put the last seven digits of your chassis number into RealOEM then you will see if they were applicable for your model.

Looks like I am missing the one between the bumper and radiator - thank you for the link

I have a 1998 1.9 and there are two undershields on mine.
The front one... bumper to Radiator

And at the back of this one there is another that covers the sump, gearbox and fuel filter .
This is the only picture of the rear one I have. There is also a sump nut access panel on the rear one.

That is correct for a 1998 car but the 2001 cars didn't have the cover under the engine and gearbox according to realoem parts list. I am sure one could be fitted but doesn't look as if was originally supplied with one. My 3.0i has only got one from bumper to radiator.

Thank you all for the replies. Mazza the pictures were really useful. I definitely don't have the bumper to Radiator nor the fuel filter shield but shouldn't be to difficult to source. I did look at the RealOEM and my later car wasn't fitted with the gearbox cover.

Before you source an airduct, check that you have the side panels intact (4&5 in pic) as you need these to bolt to and they're not so easy to install.
On the plus side these plastics are relatively cheap new from BMW.

Thanks Eddie, i checked whether the side panels were fitted and they are. There is also signs of where the air duct was fitted at some point as well. Just need to get the duct and fuel filter cover.

Happy to help Ken, just make sure the bolt holes are good, the plastic gets very brittle with age. Mine disintegrated at speed 4yrs ago and I never bothered replacing it.

I think I'm right in saying that the piece between the front bumper and the radiator bottom, if missing, can affect the cooling of the engine?

Tony.

Doesn't seem to affect mine Tony. Mind you I still have my temporary one in place.
