Well, i was looking at attending my first cruise today, but had to bow out because my ASC+T and ABS system kept faulting out and lighting the dash up like a christmas tree, so not wanting to be a crash test dummy in a convoy bowed out.
I therefore took the time out to help out another fellow M44 owner with an idling and misfire issue, which thinking it was the MAF, we have since identified as the Camshaft Sensor, by swapping out MAF and clearing codes and rechecking, we ended up with the recurring code P0340, so we will be changing Camshaft Sensor soon.
Anyway on my return i decided to put the Zed on diagnostic, expecting to get an ABS fault etc, i was amazed when i got nothing but misfire codes, random misfire, misfire cylinder 2 etc, i cleared the codes, took it for a drive, ASC+T and ABS lit up once more, re-read the codes random misfire, misfire cylinder 2 again, scratch my head!
I did however earlier in the year replace the HT leads, nothing wrong, just thought with age can't hurt, luckily i still had them (old ones) in the garage, so i replaced the new with the old and guess what?
No more misfire codes and no more ASC+T and ABS fault lights, i was thinking that it was wheel sensors or the dreaded ABS module fault, so with both sessions today it just goes to prove you have to use diagnostics and fault finding with these cars, to get the root cause, otherwise could get costly.
