It has just occurred to me that in two and a bit years of ownership, I haven't driven my Z3 with the ASC button off.

So I wondered if my fellow Zedders would cast their votes and own up to being a yellow belly, a brave soul or somewhere in between.

I tend to leave mine on most of the time, however, near to where I live are two long steep roads, switching off the ASC transforms the car a tad ........... well, quite a lot actually! Much better power delivery with if off :D :coolsteer)

I need to try it. I think the reason I haven't is because it's the first car I've had with the option to turn it off and I forget it's there, I am over 50. =))

Me too, 51 :D the new 30  apparently it's an old BMW Directive going back many years that states "if you never turn off the ASC/DSC you should be a Porsche Boxter (beetle driver)" =))

The system is faulty in my 1.9 project car and intermittently cuts the throttle off. So the one time I drove it (home) I had to turn it off.

Because I generally drive Z3s very steady it was no big deal it was off.

So to be a brace soul you'd need to turn it off and drive it like you stole it ;)

On for normal everyday driving.

Off when doing skids / burnouts / dicking about

I don't feel competent to drive with it off.
Few years ago the equipment got me out of trouble a few times in the 335, once came off a roundabout and the dash light up like Blackpool, and electronic noises,it was raining and the road had a diesel layer.

I agree with that @abh29 I have a 6 month old 330 GT and it's not difficult to loose the back end just coming off a roundabout in a mildly spirited manner in the wet.
