Hi Guys, I've just had new top mounts installed - I noticed yesterday that the arrows and therefore the screw pattern are not the same way round on each side? I couldn't find much online regarding this, What do these arrows indicate? the nearside is pointing backwards and the offside is pointing diagonally to the front. I'm just wondering if I need to go back to the garage and get them/one re-installed if not.
Pictures Attached..

Should these be pointing forward?

Thanks
Paul

Not much help really, but when I remove a strut I always mark the mounting (if it's being re-used) in relation to the bodywork.

Tony.

Came across this 5 mins ago curiosity got the better of me so out with the torch for a look as I have original spring and shock :)
But my great plan ruined
My 1.9 1999 has no arrows on the top mounts :( and they are definitely bmw ones got the logo on them .
Hopefully someone else nay be able to help.:)

Some of the top mounts have mounting lugs so that they can only go in one way, I am fairly certain the arrow points to the locating lugs.

I'm fairly sure the direction of the arrows depicts the camber and, read it somewhere, though I think to run stock they should point towards the engine. But not 100% sure

OK Guys, Thanks for the feed back, It's pretty hard to find any information about this (apart from M's - Where it suggests the arrow points forward) from looking at various pictures I'm pretty sure the offside is correct - Which is forward away from the engine? :S. and guessing the other should be similar soo..

Thanks
Paul
