Flexible brake hose mounting that is.
Well, this is what can happen to a rubber brake hose if it is left unsupported by not being attached at the correct mounting points.
I saw this on a car in for test, my suspicion was that whoever last changed the front pads dislodged the hose from its support and didn't bother to make sure it was secure before refitting the wheel. As the suspension has moved up and down the hose has chaffed on the very bracket designed to support and protect it.
Had this condition been allowed to continue it wouldn't have been long at all before the hose failed causing catastrophic brake failure. You can see in tbe 2nd picture it has chaffed right through the outer protective coating and the cords leaving just the inner "tube" holding the pressure.
So please ensure you mount hoses correctly.
Tony.
ps. One more reason I like stainless flexible hoses.
