The road up the hill from Applecross is the 3rd highest in the Uk and the highest gain in height from sea level to 2054 ft in the uk :)

Without really intending too we have followed the western side of the North Coast 500 (NC500) route. Avoid the weekends and it makes a nice drive. It is so popular that accomodation can be difficult to find in some places around holiday weekends.

I had been toying with the idea of next years Scottish run encompassing that .
But like you say would need to be during the week and off peak as well.

That was a bit of a journey for you Roadvoyager 1. I have visited Applecross on many an occasion and it is a long journey for not a lot of miles but a great place for spotting a wide variety of vehicles who's owners congregate at the Applecross inn.

Accommodation on the route is getting a joke, as is the road itself.
Great if you don't mind sitting behind a line of motor homes.

We must have been lucky. Drove it mid-week and very little traffic to spoil our enjoyment of the road. Applecross village was busy but some parking was available.
We stayed overnight in Ullapool and booking accomodation 3 weeks before our trip was difficult. Getting into somewhere for food in the evening also difficult, with a lot of Dutch bikers also using the town for an overnight stop.
