I just found this in the boot of my new to me Z3M.

Clearly it something to do with tyre pressure but it’s not connected.

1. Is it for the spare wheel to keep it inflated and tell you the pressure?
2. Is it for connection with a system that keeps all tyre pressures up?

And lastly is it any good? Those that have one do you use it?
Thanks,

Barry

Hi Barry
You dont have a spare wheel

Its a removable tyre pump with sealant inside, I wouldn't use the sealant personally as its probably quite old but the pump is great, I carry a couple of bottles of sealant slime in the boot.

As @Nodzed already said, it's to enable you to seal the tyre and drive on, in the event of a puncture. Sadly, it's in poor condition, so you couldn't even retain it as a piece of OEM and it would add value to your vehicle. I agree, you can still use the pump, though.

Yes I’ve had it out today, agree the labels are in poor condition but the thing itself isn’t too bad, it feel quite heavy for its size?
I have no idea how it holds the sealant? Or how I get rid of the old sealant?
The 12v connections are obvious.
Can anyone tell me how to use it? Refill it etc?

I have no idea how to refill it, probably at BMW if they still know how too, its a pretty old bit of tech you could just make the necessary connections to pump out the old sealant but whats the point, I would just keep it in the boot as a pump should you need it as I do.
You should have a bag attached on the rear with the sealant pipe in it. Also the 80kmh sticker should be intact, as the out let is under there, if not its probably been used. Also you should have full instructions on the front sticker.

To use as just a pump just plug it in, connect the air pipe to the tyre and press the switch, same as any other tyre pump

The sealant canister if I recall has a use by date, which will have expired. The OEM kit we have in the Z3 MR/MC models is no longer available but I believe some owners have used the kit from another more recent BMW model. I think some of the Mini models have this sort of kit.
Personally I have a couple of the Holts sealant cannisters in the back of the car and could use the OEM tyre inflator it required.
