Hi all just bought my z3 and found the antenna base missing and a aftermarket basic aerial fitted and lashed up to one of the Hirschmann plugs my question is that in the boot there is two of these Hirschmann plugs so where do they go?

I have had my antenna out, and replaced the mast and grommets. But I am unfamiliar with the term Hirschman plug. In the OEM diagram, no. 6 is the antenna cable. The question says there are two of these cables in the trunk and where do they go? I am confused by the question.

Ok there are two wires in the boot and each has a hirschman plug on it they look like this

the right hand end
There are some pictures of the base and cables in here:

If you don't see anything that relates to your antenna base or the two cables with Hirschmanm plugs, then maybe you need to trace back and remove those cables and replace with all OEM BMW cables, base, grommets, and antenna mast.

Unless you are as innovative as your previous owner, you may need to remove those cables and replace with all OEM BMW cables, base, grommets, and antenna mast.

You have female and male ends, i would say the male end is off your aftermarket and the female end is off the BMW wiring, you need to remove the carpet and take a picture of what lies beneath, and then we can give you a better idea.

Both the hirschmann plugs shown in the pic are bmw original fitted
aerial wires one would have gone to the short f aerial but i cannot see
were the other would have gone and both are male that fit onto a threaded
socket

Meyle rear shock mounts worked a treat all Zorted now, also today i fixed the drivers rocking
chair with Gazhydes little repair blocks and manages to fix the up/down motor and linkage
so a test drive revealed No Rocking,In/Out Up/Down movement fine, and no more rattles when hood up.
As for an update on the Antenna, i have decided not to buy a new antenna base as it would
have to come from America and also the bracket is missing along with one of the grommets
and instead i am going to fit an aftermarket antenna that has a removable whip. I will let you know
how it goes when all fitted and i'll take some pics.

Why couldn't it come from England, or at least Germany?
You are proposing to connect an aftermarket antenna to the cable in the trunk.
But the OE base is a powered amplifier into which the whip antenna or sporty stub antenna screws. The base on its mounts, the inner and outer rubber grommets, and the antenna are a system.
I wonder how can connect an antenna to the cable, with no base amp, and get it to function, and bring it out of the car in a watertight manner.

So what is the problem with buying the base amp if it is missing and necessary? The missing mounting brackets must be the gold-anodized parts here:

Surely they can be ordered, or even made up from aluminum bar stock.
I am all for aftermarket. But I cannot see that aftermarket is going to work here, especially the lack of a base mount with integral amplifier.
