My 2.0 E89 has 19" wheels with run flats. I intend to put some winter tyres on and have decided to go the whole hog with new rims too so I always have a spare set.

I have decided to go to 18" for the winter and the tyres MUST be run flats because I often drive on unlit country roads and just cannot risk being stranded alone in the dark.

So fellow Zedders.....what would your recommendations be for both wheels and tyres? Any particular suppliers you would recommend (we are in Warwickshire).

Thanks.

Well I'm thinking along similar lines @Gail, in so far as putting some winter tyres on my Z4 's original wheels then I can take my time finding the alloys that I want and have some new tyres. I work for a tyre business and we have branches across the midlands. We don't sell wheels but I can get you a competitive quote for winter tyres once you know what size(s) you're looking for.

Tony.

As well as the Z3 we run a X1 and a QQ . Both have a separate set of wheels with winter tyres.
Trouble is my X1 is black, and I have the winters on black steel wheels[bought new from BMW dealer] with correct tmps valves---but a very good deal--other half prefers the black steel to the nice alloys the X1 came with. So be carefull with wheel choice.

I wasn't sure about winter tires until we bought the new Fusion in 2013. We ordered a full set of tires and rims and drove through the worst snow I've ever seen here without getting stuck once. So the run flats for you are a good idea wouldn't want you stuck out somewhere in the dark! JIM
