I have a key on which the buttons do not operate the central locking. I have changed the battery and the small red light comes on when you press one of the buttons but there is no response from the car at all. Although it is a spare, it would be better to have it working properly. Any ideas?

You need to resync both keys one after the other to get them both working.
  1. Key into the ignition and turn it to the first position where the ignition lights come on and switch off within 5 seconds.
  2. Take the key out of the ignition.
  3. Press and hold the unlock button, then push the BMW roundel (lock button) 3 times, pausing for about 2 seconds in between each press. Release the unlock button.
  4. Repeat process with next key immediatley after the first key is done.

Tried that but it just moves from one key to the other and not both working at the same time.
