SUBTITLED: WHERE DID YOU SAY MY CAR WAS?????
Hugh sent me off with directions on where to meet Gary. You must remember that up to this point, I really hadn't done much driving. I only drove about 2 or 3 hours on the way to Hugh's house. He had met me at a car park where I had left my car. We did this because I had to come back the same way to go to Gary's place. Or at least Hugh didn't have to worry about me driving around his town putting he and his family and all his neighbors in needless danger. Good thinking. So after he dropped me back off at the car park, I was on my way to Gary. Hugh gave me excellent directions. However, I still was not used to going around the round abouts. When taking the third exit, I always stayed in the outside lane. I found that this didn't work sometimes because the third lane pealed off at the second exit leaving only the inner two lanes to continue on to the third exit. When I stayed on the inside lanes, I couldn't get off the third exit because of new traffic entering from the first two exits I passed. Gary was waiting for me at a Pub whose entrance I could acquire by taking the third exit on a certain round about. I was driving a red VW Golf. I had picked a red car so that people looking for me could spot me easily. And so it was, as Gary watched me enter the round about. Except that I missed the third exit and continued to the next exit which sends me back in the direction from which I came. Gary calls Hugh: "I think I just saw Frankie's car but I'm not sure its him. He went the wrong way!!". My phone rings. Its Hugh. "Hey Frankie, I think you just passed Gary". Frankie: "No Kidding?".I end up driving an extra 5 miles to get back to the same round about. THEY'RE NOT GOING TO GET ME THIS TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!! I muscle my way out to the exit and take it, turning into the Pub's car park. Gary is out of his car and runs up to my car introducing himself. But we first have a good laugh about what just happened. I ended up spending too short of a time with Gary as he's a real nice guy and we both find it easy laughing about the same things. It was if I had known him most of my life. I already know I'll miss him.........

=))=)) That was almost as funny for me watching it as it was being there on the day! Thanks for posting it up, but looking back I wish I hadn't been growing that grotty looking beard. Made me look like a hobo

I was an absolute pleasure hanging out with you while you were over here. Teaching you proper English pronunciation was fun too, particularly when you used either 'Hugh' or 'you'. Got me a couple of times when I thought you said "when I was talking to you", and it was actually "when I was talking to "Hugh". The use of the word "ga-ridge" as opposed to "grrr-raj". Interesting how we had little difficulty over the word "Guiness" or "Steak" ;)

Cheers fella :drinks:

:) next time I'll have a shave though... ;)

Funny you should say that... When I took you out for our early evening drive around Wiltshire (which lasted about 90 minutes) we missed most of what we went to look at because we were talking & laughing too much.

You did get to see Stonehenge as you requested, but due to the stupid way they are restricting access to it, only through the car window.

Ironic that Gary. There were a hell of a lot of people there on the summer solstice I understand. How close are they allowed these days?

Amusing viewing, Frankie & Gazza! Colourful uniforms, great for Frankie to see some British pomp & ceremony!
Love the way we're all held in 'suspenders' waiting for the next episode!

If you are prepared to walk, then you can get within about 15m or so. Driving around the area that evening I couldn't really see how or where you go these days.

They have opened a new visitor centre some distance and changed the roads around. There was a road which ran past it which spurred off the A303, which has now been completely ripped up.

Takes forever doing this. Some of the clips have taken 3 hours to upload to you tube. And this is after capturing them by the PC, finding the software to isolate and compress them. And then getting other software and compressing them a second time. Seems like that's all I've been doing for 2 weeks. Frankie
