So most of you know I drive an M, Lovely car and plenty of speed to give any high end sports car a run for its money.

I love my M and don’t want to put to many miles on her (He says putting 20,000 just this year)
So Z3's are at reasonable prices at the moment and with my level of engineering skills my mind began to wonder.

Not only do I tinker a lot with Z3's but i also tinker with a lot of the cars in the performance Bmw scene.

So cutting to the chase:
What if........... (bare with me) I was to put a Diesel engine in a zed???????????

Ok theirs the issues with the torque (randy Forbes kit) But it think this could be totally do ‘able if that’s a word. Just image the 3.0 single turbo diesel engine from the E46 with some nice mapping.
300bhp with over 500 pounds of torque, these engines are pretty quiet even with over 150,000 on the clock.
Am i really crazy for thinking this??

So when are we going to start?

I've had the same thought previously, and think getting 50-60mpg from a Z3 with that kind of power would be hilarious.

It is a big heavy lump so may upset handling and the post 2007 ones are better. Just the electronics integration as a problem.

Not even the colour changing neons with the strobe effect undulating sensually under the car as you race out in the early morning darkness to meet up for your free breakie?? JIM

Interesting idea but if going tondo all that work then a V8 on lpg or a 6cyl on lpg + supercharger/turbo will be very interesting.

Then you get the big torque, great sound and economy!
