Hello All
Came Very close to getting rid of the Z at the weekend!
For some time I've fancied having a neo classic GT, something like an 850, or a pre 1990 M6.
Last week, I SORN'd the Z ready for the onset of autumn, it was only then that I spotted a rather nice looking 928 for sale. So, the next day I re-taxed the Z and made an appointment to go and view the 928. My son and I had a good drive over to Guildford in the Z and it felt good to stretch its legs again, always being surprised how well it it kept up with current performance models.
We took the 928 out for a test drive and the sound of the V8 on its own was almost enough to cement the deal. So, we left Guildford and agreed that I would get back to the seller with deposit details once I had spoken with my wife. It was only after jumping back in the Z and driving home that it reconfirmed what a good car the Z is, throttle response, performance, handling, pretty much everything in the Z was better (excluding soundtrack and practicality). So, I came up with the plan to have the best of both and keep the Z and get the 928, even if it would take some negotiations with my wife!
However, Just before I was due to phone the dealer on Monday, my wife called me to say that she had just been made redundant! This obviously puts any unnecessary extravagances on hold, but now the excitement of driving the 928 has subdued, I think I may of dodge a bullet. If I had of got the 928, I have a sneaky feeling it would always be the Z that I still wanted to go out in as it is such a great car, leaving the 928 redundant.
In a long winded way this leads me to a question, if you were to have another car (around the same value) instead of the Z, what would it be and why ?
