So I took my zed down to my local as I know they use a hunters there to do the alignments.
I'm having some serious steering wobble issues with the car over 55 and I thought this might fix it.

In the shop after about 20mins of effort I was told that they had aligned and balanced the front and balanced the back but could not align the back because it was on camber plates.

Does anyone know if they should have been able to do a proper alignment even with camber plates on the back tyres?

Cheers

I will ask at work tomorrow for you. We have 4 wheel gear so they should know.

Tony.

I can only think that the camber plates are not adjustable, or are out of spec with the hunter system. I have had issues with the likes of kwik fit, national tyres etc before when taking it to them for alignment because the computer said no!!!!

There is no camber adjustment on the back of a Z3, unless you have fitted an after market camber adjustment kit, which is welded plates and cam bolts; what the reading is , is what you get. When you lower a Z3 unfortunately negative camber is a given. if you have had a bump and have camber issues, then you need new bits.

That said, camber will not cause wheel wobble, this will be down to poor bushings, un balanced wheels, bent or warped wheels, worn shocks or worn steering gear.

A four wheel alignment on a Z3 is waste of money on this basis, and the companies offering you a four wheel alignment should know better.

Well there you go, if you have a Z3 you cant adjust it, but if you have a Z4 things you need to know, is that during cornering, the Z4 rear wheel actually turns in as well to aid cornering performance. Camber adjustment is done from the top of the struts i believe, but similar to the Z3 does not offer a lot of adjustment.
