On the last leg from my test run of the Lakes Tour in the dark I pulled out from a T Junction turning right, got on the straight and into second when I saw headlights come over the brow of the hill, fast too! (60mph road). I checked my rear view mirror and yup, the panel van behind me pulled out, felt it coming then watched the car T-Bone the van, oof! No sound of tyre screech for breaking. Stopped and span round, Van driver up and about with a few cuts on his arm from shattered glass and the car driver flat out on the floor, semi-conscious but breathing with drivers of other cars assisting. No claret externally, heavy wheezing and moaning, internal 🤷‍♂️ Kinematics at force at that speed. No ifs or buts, the airbag saved her life! Rang 999 and a pretty swift response from Ambulance and Poluce considering the location.

I hope the young girl (mid 20s I'd say and baby seats in car but empty fortunately) has a full recovery 😢
 
Sad thing is Andy, if those baby seats had been occupied she would most likely been driving just the same. Hope she's learned a lesson.

Indeed mate, that said the van driver did pull out. The lack of braking surprised me tbf.

Maybe she could've given herself more time to see the van and possibly slow down some.

Without a doubt mate. That said, I'd put my back teeth on it that the Van driver is held accountable as the guilty party.
 
Pulled out when a car was coming, so that's right, but as you say if there was no sign of her slowing down it would indicate a lack of awareness on her part.
 
Many years ago my father-in-law pulled out at a junction, and was hit in similar circumstances. Even though the driver was speeding quite excessively, my father-in-law was still responsible for causing the accident.
 
Lets hope we don't see anymore of that sort of thing when we do the tour Andy. Hope she's ok though.
