Just a quicky - I know if the ignition is turned on with the seats removed it triggers an airbag warning light.

Can anyone tell me whether the Creator C410 (Amazon link) is able to reset the airbag warning light? I added one of these to my toolbox when I got my car, but there are conflicting reviews on Amazon about whether it can reset airbag lights or not, and I presume it depends on the type of car it's plugged into. I don't really want to test it, in case it can't and then I need to buy more equipment or mess about finding someone to reset it for me.

Just for clarity, I haven't triggered the warning light (yet), I am just trying to determine if I am being overly concerned about a non-issue. I'm currently working on a number of interior related tasks, and being able to turn the ignition on without seats would be helpful!

Thanks

I was able to reset a light that came on after a garage decided to hoover my car. I think they must of hit one of the connectors under the seat with a hoover pipe. I poked around pushing the the plugs together and used my creator c310 to reset it. Obviously it can't reset if there is an ongoing problem. If you remove the seat it's best not to have the battery connected until the seat is replaced. I have heard stories of the airbag going of if the ignition is turned on with the seat removed

Thanks for the info. I've got to say, bit concerned about the prospect of the airbag going off!!!

I guess I should be able to do things like operate the windows or test the stereo/speakers on the accessory mode, rather than turning on the ignition specifically. All this time any time I've had the seats out I have stuck some tape over the ignition barrel to stop myself doing anything stupid, I guess I just need to have a go and deal with the consequences! (keeping out of the way of the airbags 😂 )

Can't say I've ever heard of an airbag going off tbh. I have seen idiots on YouTube setting them.of with a person (another idiot) sitting on it. NOT recommended.

Creator should be able to deal with that
You will need the 16 to 20 pin round obd adapter to use the under bonnet port to gain full module access.
On creator it is in body couple of pages in i have the 310+ and it can reset airbag light.
Stephen.

Don't worry, it's called evolution. Survival of the less stupid, although seeing some of the people driving round here it's not taking them out of the gene pool quickly enough.

If there are no faults the Creator range of scanners can reset ok. Z3 needs plugging in via 20pin socket to access the airbag module as stated by the others.

Well that was weird!

I did need to turn the ignition on without the seats installed in the end. Sure enough the airbag light came on. Once the seats were back in, I plugged in the C410 and the airbag light went out without needing to do anything else!

Does the Creator work on the service interval lights? Christmas is coming, I'd like one, but on my 1998 1.9 Z3 the green service interval strip is now down to 3 green leds and the 'change brake fluid' light is on as well. Will it reset those? (All necessary service work long done!!)

You can buy a tool to plug into the “Pac-Man”port under the bonnet to reset service lights, or, you can simply use a piece of wire.

As Tony & Nefyn Cat have said, you don't need the Creator, however to answer the question - Yes it does work to reset the service interval

Thanks all, just wanted to check as Santa is already bringing me a Creator, and I might as well try it on everything before the novelty wears off.
Interesting video but he doesn't say if the ignition has to be on, or off, or position 1 or 2 etc like many other moderns. I have had cars go bang too many times in the past to be shy about asking first!

Ignition on when the Creator is plugged into the car then it can read the modules.

All scanners need ignition on to scan trouble codes as far as I am aware.

Well, just did it - the service / brake fluid light reset. Nerve wracking for a first timer, but worked first time too. There are two connection points, which I didn't realise, but once I worked out how the cap comes off and is replaced, it was easy enough. Thanks for the link!
