Our youngest son has got BMW 316i (V reg), the Airbag light has come on I've used my reset tool on it & cleared it but as soon as a passenger gets in the light comes back on which ties in with the fault code that comes up.My question to my fellow Zedders is has anybody had any luck with these passenger mat bypass unit that are advertised on e-bay or can I get away with crimping the two wires together.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Gary

If it's a broken wire is it not possible to repair it?

Tony.

I have used the bypass resistors and it worked well, beware that the cheaper units do not tell the airbag unit that a passenger is in the car, this means should the worst happen then the airbag will not go off.

This is the seller I used.

Just plugs in Pete, there is a small black box under your passenger seat which the occupancy mat plugs in to, un-plug the mat from the black box and pop the resistor in to the black box in its place. Only down side is the airbag is always armed, this applies if you have no one in the passenger seat.

But sounds better to have the bag fire at an empty seat than not go off if a passenger is aboard ! JIM
