Airbag Inflation Speed

I'm just watching Fifth Gear and they say the the Airbags inflate at 200mph

Well that's good then as I can't see me getting 200mph out of my Z3 2.2 170bhp

My short wife she sits so close to the steering wheel just hope they never have cause to deploy I'm sure they would do more harm than good but hopefully incorrect.

I guess that is something to consider.
I need to find out how to cancel my passenger airbag so I can take my 4yr godson out for a spin
