Had a members car in Zedshed Cymru yesterday with the airbag light on, scanned with Creator 310+, BMW Scanner 1.4 and INPA all showed up 93DB [37851] Step up converter defective.
Not a lot comming up on this code on the Web, did note that at times the scanners couldn't see the satellite modules but could be seen other times it was scanned. The left satellite module was pulled out and connections cleaned with electric contact cleaner, made no difference the code cannot be cleared, the light remains on. I suspect the main module in the centre console behind the handbrake has an internal fault but that has not been explored, Anyone out there have any knowledge on 93DB code?

A replacement used central module same part number as old one has been fitted. Coded to the car using NCS Expert and then codes cleared using INPA. The original fault code has gone and has not returned however the airbag light remains on and a new code of incorrect Vin number for the module has been set. It appears the coding with NCS Expert didn't take the Vin Number across to the module.
Feel sure I did it correctly and have checked out all the forums and Youtube to check I did it correctly so at a bit of a loss as to why it didn't take the Vin number. Probably going to have another session on it on Thursday and see if we can get a result.

Do a good search through Z4-Forum. I recall a similar problem a while back when I used to browse through there.

Been on there already have found some info and will be trying the methods they used with NCS Expert, suspect I didn't do the right sequence for it to write the VIN to the module.
Will try this
INPA: UIF (User Information Field) Report
1-Open INPA>select your car model (E60)>Functional Jobs>F3 UIF
2-You'll see a list of all control units with their ZUSB number and VIN
3-Print to PDF the report.
4-Identify the ZUSB numbers without your VIN and copy from the PDF and close INPA

WinKFP: Edit VIN and Flash Module
5-Open WinKFP (Load SPDaten files google it)
6-Select comfort mode
7-Then click find ZUSB
8-Paste the number you copied
9-this will go straight to the right ZUSB
10-Then enter your full VIN and then click on done
11-Double check that the module your going to flash it's safe to flash with your cable and the battery needs to be connect to another power source
12-Click on update ZUSB (this will flash the module with SPDaten files and re-write the VIN)

NCExpert: Code to Default
13- Open NCExpert
14-Load profile -> Expertmode -> F1 -> F3 -> choose E60 from the list -> choose any module you want from this list -> now click F6 Back -> select F4 Process ECU -> choose Module -> now click ReadECU -> close the notepad window that showed up after the module was read.
15-Press F5 for basic functions -> Select "coapiReadSgGetFswPsw" and click Ok -> Select F2 "job" select SG_CODIEREN and press ok -> Press F3 Execute job and wait for the buttons to become active, when active it's all done.

INPA: Identification Report and Clear Errors
16-Open INPA>select your car model (E60)>Functional Jobs>Identification
17-Print the report to PDF.
18-Look in the SGBD column the module you replace
19-Clear (EM, IM and HM) Errors and Close INPA

Ediabas Tool32: Start System Time
20-Start Tool32
21-Select File->Load SGBD, Group file
22-Browse to the EDIABAS\ECU folder, and search for the file name based on the listed SGBD column. Can be more than 1 file.
23-In the Left of the window select systemzeit_lesen (write)
24-In the middle of the window Argument (value of) type 1 in the dropdown menu
25-double click systemzeit_lesen and done.

Well another 3 hours trying to solve the airbag light with the replacement module fitted, still having no success coding the replacement with the Vin number despite following all the guides we could find using INPA, NCS Expert and Dummy and Winkpf. The old Vin will just not update with the cars correct Vin. The only code showing on the module is Incorrect Vin Number and that is preventing it to be cleared so the airbag light will go off. Any suggestions on solving this would be welcome.

What is the module checking the VIN against?

If you changed the VIN to the wrong one in both satellite modules, would it clear the code?

In NCS Expert the choice of modules that would contain the Vin are AKMB or ALSZ
Have tried both but when completing the coding the Vin in the D_SIM module remains as the doner cars Vin.
Reluctant to try what you suggest about changing the satellite modules to the doners Vin in case it screws up those modules unless you know something we dont?

Since we failed to get the Vin number changed using NCS Expert and Winkfp have been looking at Tool32 to give that a try. Not used it before and there is no online instructions to be found on how to do the Airbag module with Tool32, some on other jobs but nothing clear.
The version I have is all in German so that can be a problem choosing the right jobs. Has anyoner got an English 'How to'?

The car we have been trying to code is Cardiff based so not with me, have been plugging in my car to explore Tool32 so thats where we are at the moment. Will be away at the end of this week and next so out of the loop on this at the moment. Your offer to call in is very welcome, where are you your location shows Krahental, Germany, are you in the UK now? Have a mate in Plattling who I have visted a number of times, he runs a +8 Morgan and an E-Type Jag as well as a number of Vintage motorcycles. I am afraid my German language is not what it should be with the amounts of visits I have made.
I will pm you my address

Yes. Been in the UK a while now. Not too far from you.

If that Tool32 turns out to be a good bit of kit then maybe you and II could rustle up an english instruction sheet for benefit of others.

Hey Colb. I just read your above post describing the steps you take.

Your step 23 in tool32 "systemzeit_lesen" is not write.

It means "SystemTime_Read" so, i assume telling it to read system time (not write anything?

I have been following this thread with interest as if you find a solution to this it could possibly pave the way to upgrading the module in zeds with just drivers bag to drivers and passenger bag.
As fitting the passenger bag etc seems to be relatively straightforward the issue is the coding of the module so watching with interest to see if you sort this.

Yes. I'd be real nervous. Although I'd be even more nervous if I was doing it to somebody else's car.

Yes determined to sort this one I know it can be done it's just a matter of mastering the software and language. The Z4 system is a bit more tecno than the Z3 which I successfully coded a used module to and got rid of its airbag light using NCS Expert. Hope Tool 32 solves this one.

Here are 2 different INPA packs. Don't know if the associated Tools32 are english or not.

Good luck.
