Hi,

I've recently just bought a Nardi steering wheel for my BMW Z3.

However, I have a slight problem as I don't know how to wire the horn into the new Nardi wheel.

I have a 2001 2.2i roadster and have attached photos (in the below link) of my wiring.

Please help!

Does your new wheel have horn buttons or are you going to have a static switch in the car somewhere?

The six wires you have are:-

Airbag stage 1 - 2 wires
Airbag Stage 2 - 2 wires
Horn - 2 wires

I'll look out the colour codes

I bought a Renown BMW horn button to sit in the centre of the Nardi wheel (see attached photos in the link provided).

OK, you are going to have to use the original slip ring off the back of the OEM wheel, the wires are as follows: -

Airbag stage 1 - 2 wires
BMW Colour Codes - GE/SW & GE/BR
Actual Colours - Yellow/Black & Yellow/Brown

Airbag Stage 2 - 2 wires
BMW Colour Codes - GR/SW & GR/BR
Actual Colours - Grey/Black & Grey/Brown

Horn - 2 wires
BMW Colour Codes - BR/RT & BR
Actual Colours - Brown/Red & Brown

From the pictures you have supplied you have a kit that is a single stage airbag kit. The wire with the fuse in is a device to fool the car to think it has the steering wheel airbag fitted, you need two of these to connect to the two circuits above.

The other cables you have connect to the terminals on the back of the horn switch using the colour codes above.

Are you sure you haven't got the top two mixed up?

GE = Gelb = Yellow
GR = Grau = Grey
