I have bought a 1.9 Z3 MOT failure. It's been parked up for a year hence the mold. I'm planning on stripping it for bits in the future, but I have some short term plans for it.

Can anyone shed any light on these aftermarket hoops? I've had a look around online and can't see any exactly the same. The storage bin 'lid' has a different texture (aside from the mould).

You sure they're not the ACS hoops - they were available without the black rubber badge on the top?
The only aftermarket chrome hoops I've seen have the adjoining horizontal bar or are a much straighter hoop without the forward bend if that makes sense.

I know which hoops you mean (with the bar). The cars in storage and when I had it delivered it was night and raining so I've not checked for any logos.

The build sheet doesn't specify hoops so they didn't come with them. I'm hoping they are acs hoops. The owner also fitted Z3M (style) mirrors. I'm assuming they're non genuine as they are unpainted.

yes I had some, they were rounded at the top rather than the pointy AC Schnitzer style I swapped them for.

They go all the way into the sockets on the body and do not have the middle bar.
The ones I had were very well made and strong but I never found out who made them.
They normally fit in the plastic covers for the BMW hoops so it looks as if someone has modified the large centre plastic with holes to suit.

They are not Schnitzer, they only made the type that were more pointy and they all had rubber pads.
Schnitzer as below:

Yeah, you're right. I've just been comparing the Schnitzer ones with the not so great photos I took and they ACS ones are more pointed. I think the ones in your top picture are mine. Hopes of selling them for a small fortune have been dashed. ;)
