Aftermarket ICV

I just replaced my Idle Control Valve with a cheap aftermarket part.
It works and after a few seconds settles at the ideal 700-800rpm - but in the first couple of seconds is ranges from 450-1000 - feels like a momentary slow stutter.
Will this fix itself over time or is this a quality issue (as the gap between an OEM and after market ICV is around £200)?

Did you use the gasket provided with the after market one? (that cheap paper one)
If yes, try replacing it with something better.
if this does not fix the issue, give it some time to adjust (probably will never do) and try checking the gap at the end of the valve (it has a sliding metal that works with a spring).
does it have the same gap with the one you replaced?
if it is less than that you can do a microsurgery and melt a small dot of plastic on the side the slider faces the metal (using a zip tie and a lighter) to compensate the gap.
it may work, most of the times it does.
if the gap is bigger, give it some time, the car will adjust (removing the power cable from the battery and letting it rest helps also).
but, to be honest, after two failed after market ones, back when I had it, I finally spent the money asked by the dealer and solved the issue once and for all.
I think I still have one somewhere… let me check if I can find it. If I do, I will send it for free.

Well, actually I have two.
but they are the after market ones so they will not help you.
check the photos below, the gap I am talking about is normal at the first one and totally off at the next one.
please also be carefull when ordering because some have four inserts and others have three (and they do not plug to later models).
i had to grind the one with the three in order to fit in a desperate attempt to save money.
it did not work.
and do not I REPEAT DO NOT try to pry it open to clean it watching youtube videos BEFORE removing the safety pin. (The one I have my finger on) You will destroy it. The idiot who uploaded the "repair" video is a total jerk and reaponsible for all the broken valves they blame him for. And as you see, there is nothing to repair in there.

Seems solved.
Thanks for your insights - many will benefit.
1.I got it with a rubber gasket.
2. I will seal it with good engine silicone.
3. Disconnecting the battery and reconnecting seems to have given the ECU the opportunity to learn this new Chinese ICV and so far in 10 stops around the block it only went as low as 600rpm. Horray.
