Hi,
Just seeing what’s out there from an aftermarket point of view for an exhaust for my 2.8 prefacelift wide body!
Any help or advice welcome!
Thanks

The original exhaust on your car is made from stainless, subsequently, as they were built to last, there are very few like for like (if any) off the shelf aftermarket options available.

The best option is to Google a local to you custom stainless steel exhaust builder who is an agent for Powerflow, Long life etc.

I may have a powerflow system for sale soon that changes the standard 2.8 to a quad tip if the spare is removed.

Sounds nice but is going to be surplus to requirements soon.

Hi,
Thanks for the replies, although I would consider a powerflow, I want to stick to the original twin pipes as opposed to the quad exhaust thanks!

Supersprint do a great bolt on solution. Had a good 12years out of mine. Baffle is rattling inside so was going to repair but have ended up with full custom system from the engine back.

Supersprint look expensive for ‘just the back box’ but my experience is that their development work is what you pay for as their systems don’t drone as much as custom made systems but manage the trick of giving a great sound as the revs rise to almost M like scream at high revs.

I miss the tone changes from low to high revs of the supersprint, all the custom made ones I’ve heard including my new one deliver more bass but a less ‘tonal’ sound.

I know I sound like an EVO journalist here but sound is a big thing for me. More so than any performance gain. I’d much rather a slower nicer sounding car than a poor sounding fast one !

My new systems is great but I’ve changed the headers and cat so it’s totally different-now like an e36 M3 turned up to 20! It’s too loud so getting a resonator / second muffler.

The exhaust man explain to me all the nuances to getting great sound and the lengths some companies go to to develop the sound - for example the supersprint is actually quite narrow inside the box just as it comes out to the tips. Whereas as custom made system will just be straight through.

This restriction does reduce flow but it’s for the sound waves and what helps kill drone and helps with the sound.

this clip is largely induction noise unfortunately, never got a proper exhaust

This was with a Simota induction kit and the supersprint back box. Stock cat and headers.
