After market AC

Ive taken the Z3 to Western Australia and made the rash choice of getting it with no AC as who thought id need it in the UK! After a few summers of 30 - 40 c+ i think its time to look into it.
I cant seem to find any threads on this.
Can anyone / has anyone made the aftermarket options work? The cost seems prohibitive. Ive recently looked into the under glove box aftermarket units but thought i would ask opinions and get suggestions.

We had an aftermarket aircon in a golf when in Oz, some years ago now. Think it was "plug and play". Not sure it would fit in a Z3 mind.
