Hi, i'm looking to buy a 2010 Z4 30i M with 70k miles.

Its in good condition but i noticed some corosion at the underneath rear....is this a problem or fairly normal....?

The car has M suspension with run flats but not adaptive....should it feel OK if i change out the run flats or will it still feel harsh, and is adaptive retro fittable in the future?

The car has also had its engine sump gasket replaced due to a leak....is this norm,al or could it be a cause for concern?

Many thanks for any help.

Hi, so if it's a 2010 then it's an e89 SDrive 30i if that's correct it's not an M, BMW didnt do an M varient in the e89. It may be an M Sport, not quite the same thing.
As for the rust it looks like surface rust to me considering the car is coming up 15 years old I'd say that's fine, easily cleaned off and lanoguarded. First thing I did on mine was ditch the run flats, makes a big difference to the ride. Gasket change is a bonus I'd say, no leak. As for retro fitting adaptive, prob cheaper to buy one with it if you want it than buy a car and retro fit. Caution though the shocks are very very expensive.

As said, adaptive is a very expensive option. I had 3 of mine changed under BMW warranty and was in excess of £4K. I’d actively advise not to buy one with it and if you want to change standard system out for a better aftermarket one that’s where to put your money. Far cheaper and better system

Re the rust absolutely nothing I wouldn’t expect to see on a car that age.

Hope mine doesn't look like that the next time I'm under it.

It looks worse than mine does and it's only 1 year older. Where has it lived all its life?

It could be the mileage...its done over twice the miles of yours....It is an exposed. panel, so hopefully the rest of the car is sound. I would need to see other higher mileage cars to really get an understanding of the corosion side of things.

To be honest mileage is not likely to increase corrosion, more likely to lessen the build up. As I asked, where has it lived? A coastal area maybe?

That i'm not sure about because it has had several owners and its for sale from a dealer. Hard to know. Do you think i should look for another car?

How high is the mileage, and is the general condition good? I won't get home till mid October but I'll take some pictures so we can compare yours and mine. It's often a good idea to bide your time looking for a car, often you're better buying from a member on here, or a similar owner's group. Where are you located?

Its done 76k and looks in very good condition inside and out......Its really just that one rusty area area shown in the picture that i could find. It has had a recent new engine sump gasket due to an oil leak. On the same recent bill it says they replaced the battery assy (I'm assuming assembly) but i don't really understand what that could be..it cost £154 for the part...maybe it was the battery itself..... In total a £1000 bill paid for by the dealer who specializes in Z4's.. i've put a minimal deposit down but i'm fairly sure he would return it if i was at all concerned about the rust side of things....i will go back now and take a deeper look at the car before proceeding....i assumed this kind of corossion was fairly standard, but if not i don't want to buy an overly rusty example....Located in Suffolk, UK. I am after a very particulatr colour and spec which is fairly uncommon.... Deep sea blue with cream interior

So, where are you located? The reason I ask, is that there could well be a member on here who would come and have a look with you if you asked. The amount of corrosion showing certainly wouldn't me off buying a car, especially if all else is good.
It wouldn't be difficult to get rid of what you can see in the pictures if you don't mind getting your hands dirty.

I'm located in Suffolk but the car is near Northampton..... I'll message you the link if you like so you can see what we are talking about.

I am guessing the car is being sold by Zachary Luke? They sell very expensive Z4s IMO.
