Hi all, I am in need of a bit of advice. I am trying to adapt my perspex ( I think ) wind deflector to fit the A.C.Schnitzer roll hoops on my Zed. I need to notch the deflector to fit around the badges on hoops. What is the best thing for cutting the deflector? Also, what would be the best way of tidying up the edges after the cut, or removing any scratches? Thanks in advance Phil.

Or if you have a multi tool use that. I find them a lot more precise and does not chip

I have a jigsaw, so I will buy a fine blade and buy some fine sandpaper.

Philip I've cracked Perspex with a jigsaw before, it would be bouncing off it ,ide off thought, ure proberbly better off using a carpenters fret saw,or coping saw, the filling off any burs, then the rough side off ladies nail buffer to polish up the edges, any chance u can post a photo to see what your up against?

I would say the multi tool is the better option and then finish off the edges with increasingly fine grades of wet and dry. :)

I thought u were cutting a straight piece , now I can see what's involved, and the Perspex is thick,it's got to be a jig saw on low speed, I managed to heat one up the other day and bend it out to get to the top luggage compartment finally, but I'm not sure it would work on yours Philip .

thought I would try a curve across the top:

with the ' @Eddie Zedder bend' to allow the storage compartment lid to open:

ran out of chrome ties though...

Cut from 500mm x1000mm sheet using a cordless jigsaw from Lidl..

I've cut Perspex with a jigsaw, the only thing i found was you need to keep pressure on the material on your work surface, work mate etc., to stop it bouncing with the reciprocating blade. I trim the edges with a new Stanley knife blade as a scraper at about 45 deg. to the edge.

Tony.
