I've been thinking about removing/replacing or covering over the walnut trim in my car (facelift model). I want to keep it wood because I like the look, but probably going for something more modern and definitely less glossy and more natural of a finish than the OEM stuff. For reference:
I've found one thread on this where the poster went all the way to disassembly and had the pieces sent off for glueing and finishing. (https://zroadster.org/threads/a-new-look-console-project.31267/)
I'm wondering if anyone has tried a less intensive option, just using adhesive backed wood veneer over the top of what is already there, like the aluminium or carbon fiber kits I've seen. And were you able to get a good result?
