Adding Cruise Control

It’s funny you say that @MickyG. That was exactly the position I was going to adopt with legs up in the air😂. My drivers seat is rocking a little so I have got some new seat rail bushes to replace them, so the seat is coming out. You’re right, it is quite heavy as I replaced the bushes on the passenger seat last summer when I replaced the seatbelt clip on the side- a bigger job than I had anticipated but I feel it was well worth it! Such is the case 😂😂😂.

Im planning to drive to Switzerland in September. In the ideal world I'd like to have cruise for obvious reasons.
My cars the 3.0 M54 2001 engine. Do I need different parts than discussed ?. Totally blind on approaching this one !

You will need the same three components as it too is Drive-by-wire. Apart from finding the two plugs hidden away in the loom, the fitting is a doddle: and works very simplistically.

No need for clutch switch on a manual it’s already there, just need module and column switch.

P.s if buying a column switch second hand try and find one with the rubber in place around the base of the stork.
 
So just a module and stalk !, sounds very simplistic, I likey!!

I get looking, if anyone hears of anything anywhere id be greatful for a heads up 😉
 
Most stalks are in Usa part not too bad postage extortionate.
The telematics module buy from Bmw they are around 40 quid cheaper than Ebay last i checked.
Clutch switch for manual gearbox is available generic so about 12 quid

Just been looking. As you say loads across the pond but silly postage.
Can I clarify, I need 2 parts or 3. Im getting different answers..🤔
 
If your car is a 3.0 manual
3 parts
1x cruise control stalk

1x clutch switch

1 x telematics module

That is all you will need
Stephen.

I'm certain that I didn't fit a clutch switch to my manual 2.2i M54 Reg. June 2002. It works perfectly.
 
Done mine many years ago, M52 TU with cable throttle but has ASC so has electronic throttle control. Didn’t need a clutch switch it was already there.

Think it was only £140 as an option in 1999 but I’d ticked too many boxes so didn’t add it.
