Hi Folks
My car decided to strand me halfway to work this morning.
Driving along a dual carriageway, and with no warning, sound or feeling, the car just started slowing down. I blipped the throttle - nothing, I thought it had stalled, so ignition off and back on, engine running but no throttle, I managed to turn on to a side road using idle and was picked up by the recovery truck.

From a quick search it looks like either the potentiometer or the position sensor. although I have just replaced the MAF and intake boot, both of these seemed fine, I was able to check the obd whilst waiting for recovery, no codes.

Hopefully it won't cost too much to sort out, and I'll get the mot done whilst the garage have it.

I really like the car, but have been considering selling it recently, this, unfortunately is another tick in the 'against' column

If your car is not a drive by wire the small bush behind the throttle may have disintegrated with age and fallen off hence no throttle response? Worth a look.

Look at the throttle pedal, see if there is a cable attached, or just an electrical connection.

Tony.

this is very possible, happened to me on a track day, thought I’d killed it, still held on by same cable tie thinking about it!

I could be miles off, but my money is on the £25 eBay MAF you have just fitted,
Try removing the plug from the MAF and see if it runs ok again
That was my first thought too, so I swapped the old one back in ( I had it on the passenger seat just in case) but it didn't help
