I have the module (and pump if required) from a 1998 1.9. The realoem number is indicated as 34511164333. I can check the number on the unit tonight.

It should be fine (at least it's from a Z3 and not a 3 Series like most on ebay) but may need re-coding to be certain.

PM me if interested. Will also find the recent easy to follow coding thread on zroadster.net

has anyone got a abs module part no--- 34.51-1164897 for a 1999 2.8 manual please
Kev
same as the one i needed, i think the pump is the same number also, it just has the last digit swapped for a 6
i found mine by searching for the part number with the 6 at the end and found a module that no one else had seen because it was listed with the number for the pump, if that makes any sense.

Strange. No doubting that unit exists as it comes up with pictures in ebay & google. But first time I've not been able to find something in realoem.

Even if it was a superceded number it would come up. Anyhow, I'll check my spare unit tonight to see what the part number of that is. Physically it's the same type of unit for sure according to the photos of your part number in google.

Ant gave us that info last night, so it seems they're all like that, one digit different?

My spare confirmed as same part. See image. Here if you want a secondhand part - PM me. New will be many hundreds. A repair about £200.

No warning light or error codes when removed from car.

same number as the one i needed, after alot of searching and head scratching there seems to be two main areas where these modules fail, first error is a electromagnetic interference error, this is a break in the electromagnets that control the valves in the pump part of the unit, there is a write-up on how to fix this on another bmw forum, its a long winded fix as it requires replacing the wires that are encased in the rubber circular parts of the module(these are the magnets, the wires can break inside the flexible rubber)
the second error comes up as pump valve wire harness, this is a real easy fix but does require opening of the sealed module. the power feed for the pump (the long bit that goes into the pump part of the unit that sticks out of the module) this is simply soldered direct to the PCB and over time with vibration and possible heat it becomes detached, this needs re-soldering, or even better - solder a wire to the PCB pad then solder the other end of the wire to the component that was supposed to be soldered to the board, then any movement wont effect the solder joints.

I suspect your error scenario 2 is all you are paying your £200 for in the name of an alleged refurb.

highly likely, though i think to be fair they do use a bench tester to test the whole module (in the small print it does state that not all modules can be repaired, prob due to scenario 1) but yes your paying £200 for someone to open it, solder two joints then re-seal it, thank you.
the problem here is it will only be repaired back to how it was (just awaiting the time for it to fail again), where as if you fix it yourself you can at least take some preventative measures like replacing the solder joint with a wire.
