I had a set years ago, bloody cats took great delight in knocking my cars off the track ...
Had a six wheeled Tyrrell P34 among other cars, wonder what that would be worth now @mrscalex?

It's more likely it was a March Ford 771 as the Tyrell P34 was produced for the Spanish market. The March had twin rear axles and the P34 twin front axles.

I sell the March for around £20-£30 unboxed depending on condition and livery (3 variants) and the P34 for around £40-£50.

Interesting article. I'd seen the Telegraph version so either an agency is selling round the same material or possibly Hornby are on a charm offensive with a media day.

My main interest is in the original Havant factory where I've been collecting stories from the former employees.

Due to having a mid life crises, looking at buying a new set up but can't find it any where in the shops over here.
Have they stopped production or something?

Interesting, I bought the kit over here (Netherlands) sometime back in the early 80's.
The Spanish Scalextric was (and still is) made by a separate company. Hornby and it's fore-runners never had the foresight to secure their name globally.

These days English Scalextric has to be sold as Superslot in Spain. And the Spanish Scalextric has to be sold as SCX in the UK.

Quite what rights either company had to the name in any other particular country in any particular period is anyone's guess. So it could have been sold officially in The Netherlands or it might have been individual toy shops used to get it shipped over from Spain under the radar.

In the 60s/70s/80s the Spanish Scalextric had a small edge over the English Scalextric for detail on the models. So however it turned up in The Netherlands you owned a nice model.

The P34 came in green, red, blue and yellow. They are all worth similar amounts but the blue one tends to be a little more as that was Tyrell's colour.

Unless you had this one which is worth several hundred :)

I had the blue one ... :)

When I get my new kit, I wan't these, Legends Lancia Stratos 1976 Rally Champions Twinpack - Limited Edition.

Like the Stratos. :)
Back in 2009, at the Morgan anniversary gathering Carrera were selling a Morgan racing set (although the +8 driver was sporting a pipe!). I didn't buy a set then (no way to get it into the car to get it home across town). However, several months later I did find a set at reduced price. It has sat in the spare/junk room in it's shipping box ever since. I have also added (I believe) all the various Aero 8 racing cars, mostly SCX (thanks for the pointer re: Scalextric/SCX) plus a few road cars. One day, when I've made a little more room up there (disposed of SWMBO's junk) I'll actually get things set up...

I too had a twin front axle car but it wasn't orange. Don't know what happened to my set. I suspect my parents would have sold it :(

Very good! :)

Still got an old scalextric set from the early 60s , is it worth anything ?
