I seem to think that people use a standard silicone sealant (black presumably). @mwpe?

Never had that problem Tony but I would go for standard black silicone.
Thanks Mike, for some reason I thought you had.:)

Take the 2 triangular grommets out of the top of the A frame rubber and clean the water ways thoroughly, these block and cause overflow into the car, let dry and use bicycle puncture repair glue to glue them back in. Still looks OEM once done.

Could a bicycle tyre repair patch be used? This would look tidier. I've looked at YouTube videos and the results often look a bit of a mess. I might try it or nodzeds suggestions which sounds cosmetically better

There is no need for a patch. All that needs doing is replacing the adhesive between contact surfaces of the plug and the channel rubber. No adhesive required on top of the plug so there is no mess.
@Nodzed 's description covers it - whether you use puncture repair adhesive or silicone rubber.
