We took a ride out to Cannons Ashby today to find the Rover P5 club were having their annual meet.
I remember as a kid riding in the neighbours P5. We felt like royalty. They replaced it with SD1, Another great car.

Who else remembers these fondly?

Remember them well. My father always referred to them as a "Poor mans Rolls Royce". Haven't seen one on the road for ages.

Nice pictures, Ian.

My friends grandfather owned one from new and still had it when I was 18-19 years old. Was a 3.5 coupe, beautiful cars. Don't see many now they rotted like pears.

Shirl's dad had 2 of them, a blue G reg (I think) and then a maroon L reg. which he bough as a write off which had been rolled several times at a few weeks old. Old Reg rebuilt that car over a couple of years and it was going to be our wedding car in 1980 until Reg, the perfectionist that he was, decided to replace a rusty sill days before the wedding and sadly it caught fire and burned the car and his workshop almost to the ground.:(:(:(

You know me too well =))

I did only 7 or 8 of the Rovers sadly. I did some of flowers and other things around the gardens. Too may people to get shots of the buildings though.
Here's a selection from the rest of the images.

About 18 years ago I was trying to get my hands on one over here that was parked up and unloved under some trees on a driveway near where I live but the owner would not sell. Drove past it every day to and from work, watched it rust away.

That's a real shame Mike, they were great cars, with that Buick V8 lump.:)

So sad to see something needlessly go to waste.
A colleague drove one in the late eighties. Had marvellous deep red leather seats, just like driving around in an armchair. Luxury on the cheap - until it went wrong....

Nice pictures Ian had to laugh a bit to myself . On my galaxy s5 memory card i have a folder called flowers with pic like that . I also have one called tree where i have a large sycamore across the road from me . Took a picture of it every morning for months from being green leaved to bare.
Keep meaning to get round to getting them put together as a movie. :)
