The last few weeks the site has been a little less stable and again last night it went offline for a few hours (the length of which being down to some diagnostic work being carried out).

@board (James) as ever has done a sterling effort in the background keeping things running, and also putting up with late night / early morning texts asking for him to nudge it again. At this point it most likely looks to be an issue with the forum, and there are various tech reasons why that may be. In some part that it's running and older version of the forum software which requires older versions of modules to be run on the server.

Whatever the cause I want you all to know that it's being actively worked on, and that there may still be the occasional outage until it's fixed. That all said, I work full time and don't always have the energy or motivation to sit down and trawl through technical documents to figure out what I need to upgrade everything. I've contacted a third party who has done some forum work for us before to see what his availability is and how much he charges these days (we have enough in the PP kitty I think).

So, hope is on the horizon. Just need you all to be a little more patient and understanding while I try and find to sort it out.

Peace and love, Gaz.

OK, so brief update to be followed up with a bigger more exciting one later. A small config change was made to the server which we are hoping will make an improvement.

But.... in the meantime a teaser... upcoming forum software upgrade..... soon.... very soon....

I've seen the issue quite a bit the last 2 or so weeks. Honestly, if anyone does have an expectation of 5x 9s up-time/reliability it's unreasonable. And I certainly don't have that expectation. Something between 2x and 3x 9s is much more reasonable which means we can expect several hours a year of unavailability. I'm sure we can all live with that and have no complaints.

Closing this down now. Just got off the phone with James and they did find an actual issue causing last nights problem. We were so busy last night we hit the connection limit setting. Ho hum, popularity burden! It's been upped which will help until we get even busier!

That all said, there is an imminent announcement :D
