I was pulling out of a side road and a Fiat 500 Abarth went past. I pulled out behind him, and as we entered a deristricted road, he floored it.
Now l am not into this kind of thing normally (honest) but l soon caught up with the guy, and absolutely wiped the floor with him.
Never had the Z3 flat out in third before, but l can say this, removing the CDV stopped the clutch slip when changing up from second, and the Fiat didn't stand a chance.
Damn, this car is fast. And l just came from a Lotus Elise 111s.
The BMW 3.0 engine is an absolute gem.

What other two seater convertible can you buy, that will get to 60mph in under six seconds, is still in mint condition, and has almost 100% spares availability, for under £5,000?

The 3.2 is better still!
I cannot disagree BMG but unless you use the ///M to its full potential the difference is not too great. (Hides under the sofa and awaits the ///M police =)))

Talking of hairdressers cars whilst at a recent track day I was stood in a queue waiting to be served for lunch and overheard a guy (talking about my car) say that a hairdressers car was not supposed to go that fast :).

It's funny how many people disregard the Z as a car that is capable Tony, I will not lie, it did put a smile on my face. :)

The Z3 does have an image problem. Some of my friends see it as a "show off" car, but l think as it gets older the image improves, replaced as it was by the Z4.

Recently I was in the UK to visit some of the members. The first one I visited had a 3.2. Wow!!!!!!!! What a car!! What Power!!! When I drive the 1.9, I know what I could be doing. I like the 1.9 for its own merits, but I still can't get the 3.2 out of my mind. Frankie

You can get a mint 3.0 for less than half the price of a 3.2, and it will in no way feel like the poor relation.

I've sort have been looking around on e-bay. I can't really swing it, but you know how that goes, if you want something bad enough, there are ways............(can't tell the wife).

you mention clutch slip... what is this? I feel it in my 1.9 and think my clutch is on the way out but when I floor it in 1st there is no slip??? someone please educate me :)
When your clutch starts to slip, it will be in the higher gears. 4th and 5th first. Then the lower gears. You won't have much time once it starts to slip, If you're lucky, a few days, if not, you sometimes can just about make it home. Depends if its the pressure plate going, or just the disc wearing thin. Make sure, when you get it replaced, that they replace the pressure plate, clutch disc, throw out bearing and the pilot bearing. Some people get the flywheel resurfaced but most feel more comfortable buying a new one. Frankie
