A couple of pictures from my trip through France and Spain towards Portugal.
From the top, near Badajoz, Spain.
Next on the west coast of Portugal and finally, but out of sequence, looking across La Rioja where I stopped to buy wine.
Great trip, averaged around 32 mpg which at 80+ mph is quite amazing.
The weather was cold through France and Spain and it was only when I got well south that I could get the roof down.
I'd had the car 3 days before I took the journey. I did a similar trip on a Vespa 125 Lx a few years ago!
So, the trip didn't phase me, anyway I do it every summer in my VW California but of course, I can take a bit more time and wild camp on the way down normally spending some time on the Ile de Re.
I found the car to be running cool and the guys here have diagnosed a broken, stuck open thermostat.
Other than that, no problem and it was a very easy drive.
Hope you like the pics.

Lovely colour you've got there.
Can you bring some of that warm sun back?

Zed under the sun and beach...what can be better to see when outside is blizzard and -12 C?
Thank you for sharing!
If you post some more pics and some route details, could be the start, for some people here, to prepare a next trip!:)
I'm still trying to convince my better half that a trip like that worth to be made in the Zed...;);)despite the long (and not winding!) Road.

Here's the Vespa I drove down and the black one, another lx125 is one I have in Bristol.
In fact, I have two more. I've just bought a 300GTV which goes great. Will do 80mph.
Bristol is becoming very car unfriendly. Parking zones in most central and popular areas and a Vespa is great for commuting and buzzing around avoiding traffic jams.

My Vespa was a 70's model, top speed must have been 60 max but could heat seize if you did that too long and was not the most stable of things to begin with anyway!
This looks a little more civilized but still no mean feat!

Cracking colour, one of the nicest on a Z3 I've seen.

I second that. Please @Paulro see what you can do. Your Zed is a beautiful colour mate. Looks like you had a great trip. Phil
Phil, yes a nice trip. Relaxed and enjoyable driving. I've had some nice cars, one a 944 Turbo but this is the nicest. I washed it tonight before leaving a returning back to Bristol on Sunday and then drove to make sure the brakes were dry.
It was so nice. I love the easy power. In effect it's a big, lovely, powerful engine pulling a tiny body and I love it.
On another note, I read your restoration with interest. Looked amazing and a huge amount of work.
Are you delighted with it?
Mine isn't perfect but it's still, despite having 100k Miles, very nice.
I'd like to get it as good as I can. It's going to stay in Portugal in a warm garage so won't be massively used but will be enjoyed.
