Is that one million miles?

Or more likely it has the BMW display so the pixels are broken and there is an extra line that looks like a ‘1’ at either end

Fantastic mileage, unusual for a clock to have seven digits is it not?

Can’t find any images of odometers with 7 digits. Can’t imagine either that the software guys would cater for more than 1m miles either. Why would they? It would be code to maintain with little or no chance of it being used. The record might go over 999,999 but no point in displaying it.
Won’t be missing a dp either.

Display fault? On one character like that?
Unlikely but could be bits in the display maxtrix memory.

Photoshop?
Easy to do
Steve? :computer:
Never;)

I think you must get an option 1 and option 2 on the display, one of the 1s is showing option 1, well that is my theory anyway!

Got to be something like that. Over 200 miles a day, every day for 16 years seems a little unlikely. 20 miles a day average sounds more likely.

I had forgotten all about this thread .

Time to reveal.
The picture has not been altered this is how the car came in the customer was a bit vague about how it had got that way.
Ended up on the pass certificate I issued it says mileage unreadable .
After speaking to my AE about it he verified what I already knew which was test as presented so that was fine put mileage on brake test report and emmisions print ( it failed the test ) so went to do paperwork
When you put the mileage in the mot computer you have 3 option
1. Mileage in mileage box
2. Mileage unreadable
3. Mileage not displayed
So obviously number 1 was the option I went for till i discovered you can't enter a mileage higher than 999,999 so I can't lie about what it says so left with no choice but to put mileage as unreadable.
Anyway back to how I think it got that way when I looked at its full mot history kinda looked like this
6134 mls
9627 mms
11421 mls
14785 mls
18322 mls
Etc etc
Till 32704 mls then
39644 mls
52122 mls
158577 mls
166830 mls
Mileage unreadable
1181861 mls .
So my thinking is that correct miles are
81,861
And at some point a couple of years ago it has sprouted an extra 1 at the start then mileage display has failed for a period of time then when it has come back on mileage has sprouted a second 1 at the start making the mileage appear massively high.

Sounds a perfectly reasonable explanation.
I think the fault is probably in the display. Be interesting to see what happens when it gets to 100k.
