Hi all

Sorry for the newbie questions that follow but:

Is this normal on the rear window lower corners? Are they drain holes? I can put my finger all the way through...

Also, I am pretty sure this isnt right.. Any advice on what I need to do to fix it (above the drivers window) ?

The picture of the corner of the rear window.
The stitching of the rear window has rotted, you can see where it is missing. You may be able to repair it but you are on borrowed time, once it has started to go the rest falls apart quite quickly. Should give you time to find a second hand or aftermarket roof.

Any suggestions on a good supplier?

I started looking and saw a silver car with a burgundy roof which looked really nice. At £900, having just bought it (and having realised I should have done way more homework on the roof before buying - still, the car has lots of history and if this is the 'only' problem then I guess that is 'okay'!) that is quite a lot of money.

Is it fair to say that the roof can shrink over time and cause the gap between the top of the door window and the roof? I see on other people's photos that the fabric is nice a straight across the top of the window..

Jack Smith Trimmers in Swansea, £350 fully fitted. Quite a long wait to get booked in as they are always busy.

Or Soft Tops in Croydon, more around £400? fully fitted but just as good. I've used both in the past and can 100% recommend both.

Thank you, Croydon is definitely closer and reading through the forum, does a great job! How are you getting on with that colour roof? (bird poo staining?)

The guy in Croydon is great, my Dad and I went down the same day and had 2 zeds done in around 5 hours. The current one I have in red is still looking good, rear window is a bit scratched but I put it up and down 99% of the time without the protector. Polishes out well though. It does have a small wear mark on the top where the frame folds and rubs, but that is not a problem with the roof and is fairly common. Been on almost 5 years now. No bird poo staining, if it gets any on I get it off asap. Bird poo will stain any colour if it's left on long enough, it's not a problem with the roof, it's the fact it's not removed quick enough. Same as if you left a bird poo stain on the paint and if it's left long enough to bake on then it will etch. If you look after it then it will last years, same as most things you have to keep on top of them so they stay fresh.

Red on silver looks good I think  Your roof is getting past it, any repairs will be temporary unfortunately, I suggest replacing it. Jack Smith in Swansea will fit a new one Circa £350, others are around £800+

Just spoken to the guy at Croydon Soft Tops... Currently costing £595... I guess that may be Brexit pushing the price up as most other posts I have seen are around £400 to £450 mark.. Blue and black on the shelf, red to order if the supplier has any. I have asked them to let me know on the red!

I called and spoke to Dee in Croydon. The price he has quoted is £595. Seems prices have gone up unless he has special prices for forum members? Has anyone had a roof from Dee recently?

Last time I heard they were around £400, but that may have been for just black. I know when I had a price red was more expensive than black or blue. They have gone up a lot since I had one from him which I think was around 7/8 years ago and I only paid £325 if I remember for a blue one. He did knock a little off as we had 2 done at once. Don't think he gives any forum discount. Even Jack Smiths have gone up, I paid £300 for mine a few years back.

Let's face it everything is dearer since Covid, since the Suez Canal blockage, since Brexit. That's life.
