Hey, out on a road trip and while driving my pedal went limp. Feels like there is no tension. After hopping out and yanking on the throttle cable there was no change in revs and even seemed like it was choking at the end of the travel. Am I right to think this is something with the throttle body? I'm going to try to take it to a shop or work on it my self but it doesn't move at the moment and I'm I'm good way from home and my tools. Any thoughts towards this?

Usual cause is the rubber grommet that holds the accelerator cable to the peddle has crumbled. The Accelerator cable has then dropped out of the peddle hole.

However, it sounds like you have gone to the throttle body and turned the cam to try and get it to rev. A couple of things to check:
  • Do you have ASC traction control. Is the ASC warning light on? If it is, then the ASC throttle body may be closed and effectively over-riding the normal throttle body.
  • Take the top off of the air box. Remove the filter and check to see if the air outlet, that goes to the MAF is clear. There is a foam rubber lining in there that is crumbling due to it's age. It may have blocked the air outlet.
  • With the air filter out and a clear air outlet, try to start and rev the car.

Hey, thanks for the response you are correct with the grommet falling off. It was dark and I was on a narrow shoulder of the interstate when I was looking at it so I couldn't see or do much. I got it reattached with some electrical tape till I get back home. The asc light did scare me because it had been on since I got the car and wouldn't shut off started working not ling before then.
Again thanks for the response
