Hi Lee. If this kit https://x8r.co.uk/double-twin-dual-...ls-set-for-bmw-kit-fix-3-5-7-z3-z4-x3-x5.html was used on the seals but the vanos is clicking when the car is cold (and the revs are dropping) what is left inside the Vanos to wear out and need replacing? Thanks Richard

Nothing, this replaces every item inside the unit.

I still think it's worth removing the unit and I can proof test it on the bench, It does a very mechanical function. Solenoids click open to allow oil pressure in this in turn tilts the cam when the revs raise, solenoid shuts to reduce pressure and tilt the cam back.

When this system is not working correctly (eg worn seals or bad fitment) you will get a Vanos code because the DME (Brain) knows where the cam should be based on RPM vs MAF air flow.

I'm assuming Iridium are scratching their heads. Maybe I can build another Vanos unit I have and we can swap them over to prove the unit itself.

Thoughts ?
