70s Cars, which one?

not quite a 70s car but yesterday while out n about i saw a immaculate

MG maestro turbo in black, now i do recall these were not only sh!t in their day, but they were rapid, especially that montego turbo they did. I seem to remember it would beat off a Escort RS turbo (which was the cheap mans benchmark car for the unaffordable cossy) with ease.
 
Very prone to “torque steer”, especially once the inevitable oil leaks softened the lower front suspension arm rear bushes.

Some mates worked at BL Tuning and put an "experimental" Montego Turbo diesel engine into a Maestro van.

When ferrying parts down to Spain they surprised a few exotica.
 
These three of these were at a local "breakfast" car meet last week.

A particular journey in my 2002 Touring triggered a bout of sciatica.

I've owned two Lancia HPEs.

I've owned an Alfa Romeo Spider 718.

I've owned a Vauxhall Viva 1600 OHC. Super engine design- when the engine stops, the cam lobes and followers sit in pools of oil ready for the next start.

I had a Ford Escort Mk2 as a company car and once drove a rally prepared Mexico. I found it very controllable under power on gravel so I'd probably choose that.

I did several track days in my 2002 Touring with the BMW Drivers Club at Castle Combe circuit. It was back in the day pre-1998 when there was no chicane on the back straight and could take Old Paddock Bend flat out.

The 2002 in the pic above is race prepared and has twin Weber DCOE£ carbs.
 
I did mine in the late 90s as well. The owner was an SCCA driver, I worked Timing and Scoring. I think the track day was for a bnw club event. Thunderhill Raceway has mutiple track layouts they can use for races, drifting, driver training, etc. It was great fun, I wish I'd done more of them.
