Looking at the members number today, it came into my mind that BMW launched the black watch "Z3 Individual" in 5000 units , each one carrying a series "xxxx/ 5000".
So, very soon we will be, on the forum, one member for each watch.
5000 people in Zroadster.org community! It isn't small thing, it's rather great!
Let's try to guess when we will hit the glorious number 5000!
Place your estimated date, until let's say March 1st (last day February 28th, 24.00 hours).
Is it too close or too far, only @GazHyde can say...? ;)
The winner will be declared "Zed clairvoyant, first degree" and will be contacted , in the future, for most part of important decision on the forum!:)

The number of members looks good on screen/paper but active members is another thing.

That figure doesn't really tell that much and whenever asked I pull the meaningful ones from the flight deck. If you are taking that figure as showing the site is overal quieter, then yes during the last hour it is quieter than the previous hour (or potentially busier than the previous hour). It's correct though to say that the site is always quieter in January/February statistically as seen in previous years.

Back on topic, I've always taken activity over number of registered members - although it's an interesting metric on its own. Flight deck shows 529 active members over the last 30 days, which is up on last year. We are getting around 8k posts a month which rises to about 10k during the cruising/better weather season, and with continued growth I'd expect that to be higher again this year.

When you look at total members you have to take in to account the likelihood that it's inflated by SPAM/fake accounts. I personally know of one site which has a vastly inflated number of members due to inability to screen out the fake accounts. This isn't so much the case with our database as I've got the system setup to block certain countries which are likely to create them, along with some incredibly clever code that looks for tell tale attempts. Vietnam is one particular location that is blocked from registration. You also can't register if you are using the TOR network (dark web). Finally I personally check the details on all the accounts which are created. I'd say there are likely c100 accounts in our database from when we ran the older forum software.

In general I think it's gonna be a mad busy year to come on here...

EDIT: the front page stat is now showing 157 ;)

Strange you should say that January and February are quiet months Gaz, I was only thinking earlier this evening that it was awfully quiet on here tonight.
As you said when the cruising and meeting season gets underway things will always get busier. Roll on Spring.

Tony.

Currently showing 202 posts so far today which is what I'd call a "normal" day. Stats reset at 11 minutes past midnight, so it will go up slightly from that figure.

I'd agree that 200 feels like a quiet day, but then I remember when averaging 40 posts a day seemed busy...

Can you imagine if someone hacked into the system and blocked Wales and everyone thought that YOU did it?.............Frankie

@t-tony's quote: "Strange you should say that January and February are quiet months Gaz, I was only thinking earlier this evening that it was awfully quiet on here tonight."

The cure for that: Another BREXIT VOTE.................Frankie

According to statistics, having 150 active out of 4000 registered, is normal. At least regarding the oldtimer clubs. I would say we are good.:)
But more important is the atmosphere, the quality, which is also very good here.
On the other hand, February is everywhere a problem; that's why they invented Venice carnival and Films festivals...
So, what closing date should we chose for the poll, without being to close too 5000?
