4x4's!!

Got a NHW email through today:


From Leicestershire Constabulary

2nd March 2012 at approximately 18.30, a family returning from shopping to their home in a Vale village parked their 4X4 in the drive whilst they went indoors to unload.

The gentleman returning to the car a few minutes later tripped over what turned out to be 2 men under the vehicle using hydraulic pincers in an attempt the steal the catalytic converter. In the confusion the suspects made off.

Please be very alert for this type of crime especially 4X4 vehicles as their large ground clearance make them tempting targets for catalytic converter theft.

Wow, people will nick anything these days!

I'm going to sit outside my house in a rocking chair with a shotgun between my legs and glare at people as they walk past the house. Hopefuly that will deter potential thieves. X(

I work in the car industry and this has cost us £100k+. Vehicle compounds are a big target.

Well said swamper, let's hope the insurance companies see sense now and reduce premiums when you lower a car :!!

You know what I've spent 10 mins staring at that trying to work out NHW

For anyone else still sat there it's Neighbourhood Watch, I'm sure there are others too afraid to say. then again it might just be me :-\

You really have to try to think ahead of these thieves, I know at work (for some time now) we've been replacing all the metal gulley lids with re-cycled plastic ones (as and when they've got nicked, with a program to replace all eventually).

What I want to know is why does no-one ask questions when someone turns up with a van full of them for weighing in.

the bloke at the last scrap yard i went too looked like he'd buy some small children off me if i'd have offered. A van load of nicked lead or old cat's he can make a few quid on wouldnt be an issue, especially as its allmost untraceable.

What I want to know is why does no-one ask questions when someone turns up with a van full of them for weighing in.

Perhaps they are gullible?
