Hi chaps, I've got a serious problem with water ingress coming into the boot of my Z3. My battery is regularly sitting in 3/4inches of water. I've replaced the third brake light seal, the boot seal and I've even removed the rear lights and siliconed them before fitting them back. And still it just keeps coming in! Any help or advice ewoul be gratefully received guys...

Behind the seats, the area where the roof folds into, there are holes underneath the carpet that go into the boot. You might have a leak around the rear window or where the roof meets the body.

Oh dear, you've done the obvious culprits. Next on the list is the rear window surround, if the zip is exposed it can get in there, from there onto the rear deck panel and into the boot. Aerial is another source but unlikely to get over to the battery.

Hopefully not but has the car had a rear end shunt at some point in it's life? Sorry to offer a gloomy response.

Thanks for all the replies guys. It's definitely never been rear ended. The problem has only been over the last 3 months. And I'm absolutely certain it's coming in from above while the car is stood parked up. It appears that it could be coming in where the soft top meets the body work, above the boot.

May very well be good stuff and cure leaks, but what a moniker!!=))=))

Tony.

Pmsl! What a moniker indeed!! Can't stop laughing, but you know what...I'll try anything at this point, I'm pulling my hair out over this problem. Many thanks guys.

hi there’s a little sort of square box tray thing by the doors that drains water from the roof, there’s a little drain hole that you can’t see that lets water drain through the body it sometimes gets blocked ?or Airiel grommet?

thanks this is good to know i didnt realise there was a drain hole there....

What a revelation! Who would of thought there was a drain hole there of all places!! I'll get onto checking that as soon as. Many thanks for the video links Tony, what a star!
