I just don’t know where to start ……
So I’ll try my best …..
Those that know my situation will understand what Allan and myself have been through the last 18 months…… so…..
27 days ago myself and Allan boarded a plane to the beautiful island of Zakynthos it’s our favourite place to go on holiday, we have been going to the same apartments for about 7 years now , it’s a family based accommodation and the owners live on site , it a small place with only 12 rooms in total ……
We had only been on the island for about 3 hours and tragedy struck…….
( I’ll try just to keep to the basics) At the time this all happened we were sitting on the sun lounges ……
Allan said he he didn’t feel to well so he said he was going to our room to have a lay down , about 20 mins late I went to our room…..
Allan was laying on the bed , and he said he didn’t feel right ….
I then said I’ll just have a shower, 10 mins later , Allan said get me some help , so I ran to get help , the owners and there son , came running with me too my room, they called a private ambulance ( which I only found out about a week ago) …..
Allan suffered 2 major cardiac arrests , the first arrest took 30% of his heart and the next took 50% of his heart so he only has 20% of his heart beating…..
Luckily enough Allan had both the attacks whilst the medical team were here , he had one in our room and one in the ambulance ……
The medical team in Zakynthos intensive care unit, said Allan is a very lucky and strong man , he’s got two death certificates, and he might have brain damage, but we don’t know for sure about that yet ……
Allan was in a coma for 14 days , and I was told to prepare myself to say my last goodbyes ……
The visiting time to see Allan is only 5.30 - 6.00, but that’s enough at the moment as Allan is very tired , also he’s been in bed for the last 27 days , he’s lost so much weight too …..
Our son came out to Zante a few days after this happened and then our daughter came out the same day as our son travelled back to the UK ……
I’m trying to get Allan repatriated back to the UK as he will need an icu air ambulance or jet ……
When we get back to the UK Allan will be taken to a hospital icu section where he will hopefully have a operation, either a defibrillator or a pacemaker, or put on a list for a heart transplant, that’s what I’ve been told in Zante hospital, but also they said it will be up too the UK medical team to decide, what is best for Allan ……
It’s been a very challenging/emotionally time for me and Allan too ……
I really hope we get home soon……
