My knowledge is more round the EWS bit I’ll try and give a steer.
Unless you have a very early dealer fitted system. The EWS is the immobiliser and not linked to the alarm.
The alarm is just an output for intrusion detection by the body control module (ZKE)
The ZKE would trigger both the alarm and the hazard lights.
So I think what you are referring to as the alarm module is probably the ZKE. It sits there keeping a beedy eye on all aspects of body control. Hence it’s in the right place to know if intrusion has been detected.
