The time has come to let go of my lovely Z4.
2007 (57) E85 Z4 2.5Si in Sport trim - First registered 27th Dec 2007
Individual Ruby Black paint
Individual Extended Champagne Nappa leather - A rare option that covers a lot of areas in the Z4 that are usually plastic.
Individual Piano Black trim
78,000 miles - will rise slowly
Full and over the top service history as documented here: https://zroadster.org/threads/my-e85-z4-2-5si-journal.47463/#post-716507
- Next service due August 2022 (just oil change)
- Next MOT due December 2022, no advisories
It will come on it's original numberplate: LB57YFJ
Full Spec:
Prior to my purchase the car had the following done:
Roof motor relocation to boot (by Ross at RBM)
The hard brake lines replaced (the ones flagged at previous MOT)
Rocker cover and oil filter gaskets changed
New Michelin PS4s all around
The car has since then benefitted from an extensive amount of maintenance, TLC and beyond. It is probably best to refer to my journal linked above for a detailed explanation on what was done, but here is a summary of what was changed in the last 6 months:
- Full service including: Engine, gearbox and diff oil as well as all filters and plugs. (either genuine BMW or better)
- New Delphi coil packs
- New Febi Rocker cover kit + all associated gaskets and bolts
- New Banner battery
- Full brake system overhaul (new calipers, brembo discs and pads, HEL braided lines and new fluid)
- CDV delete
- Various trim bits and pieces, all genuine BMW (cupholders, speaker covers, new gear knob ect...)
- Full wheel split and refurbishment by the best in the business (Lepsons)
- Bimmec spacers and extended bolts (15/12)
- Full wheel alignment/tracking with printout
- New front grille and fog lights
- New Osram bulbs all around
- New Bosch Aero wipers
- Bluetooth music streaming module
- 2019 maps and latest updates installed
- Front and rear bumper respray (due to scratches) and full paint enhancement detail
- Stubby aerial
Those are the main bits I think, there is more but again, I recommend going through the journal as it gives a better picture of what exactly was done and when. I still have the original whippy aerial and gear knob which will come with the car, along with a soft top car cover.
Right, enough text, here are some pictures.
Walkaround video:
I have more so if you need to see something, just ask.
I have not skimped on this car, everything that it has needed doing was done properly with either genuine or better than genuine parts.
Bad points - Every car has those, especially when it's 14+ years old. Some just like to hide them
- There is a rattle coming from the underside when accelerating in a high gear at low rpm, it doesn't always happen and sometimes it sounds like it's from the front of the car and sometimes the middle. I believe this is a heatshield or plastic cover of sorts. Doesn't happen often but is worth noting.
- Usual tear and wear, the paintwork is around 9/10, the car did just have an enhancement detail but could benefit from wet sand and 3 stage polish if you really want to be anal about it. The interior is overall pretty good, the driver's seat has the most wear/milkiness, but nothing too bad.
- And lastly, there is a tiny amount of what I believe is diff whine. It seems to happen mainly in 2nd gear and specifically between 1000-2000rpm. No other gear exhibits this (for example 3rd or 4th cruising at the same RPM are silent). You cannot hear this driving around normally or at motorway speeds, again it is something very specific but never the less I want to be fully transparent.
Price: £8000 for forum members, will be slightly higher on AT/Ebay/PH/FB
I believe the price is fair given the rarity of it's Individual specification, the optional extras, the condition it's in and most importantly all the work carried out recently to make sure this is a solid example. Everything works, it doesn't need any work doing and the "bad" points I mentioned above do not detract from the driving experience or the functionality of the car.
Any inspection is welcome.
Test drives are also welcome if you can provide proof of full comprehensive cover on this vehicle (quite a few websites offer daily or hourly insurance now). If you cannot, I will happily take you out instead.
I've probably missed more stuff out, so will go through my own thread to double-check but in the meantime, if anyone has any questions, do not hesitate to post below or PM me directly, thank you!
