Me and Sara saw one of them today when we were out in the zed, near Melton Mowbray. It caught my eye as it didn't look finished off as such as it had no bumpers. Same colour as the one in your link Tony as well. Wish I took a pic now .

I've never seen one in person, but this car has been a personal favourite of mine ever since I was a kid. Just love something about the way that it looks.

Sadly, they sell for absolutely ridiculous money now...

My father had a 2002 in the early eighties while my mother had the touring version. Before then they had bought British cars that rusted within a few years. The 2002 in comparison was a very well built car but as it was rear wheel drive was not great in the handling stakes I thought. My brother in law had a lime green 2002 TII

Lovely car but not exactly a stock restoration. As one of those holy grail cars I wonder if the engine change detracts from a it's attraction to the avid perfectionist collector. Probably knocks a bit off the potential price?

Kid who used to live next door to me years ago had a very tidy Mk.1 Escort Mexico, and he fitted a glass sunroof in it !!! Plonker springs to mind.

My brother-in-law had a red Mk1 Escort Mexico too. He only has the number plates now - found them in the garage just a few weeks ago. :(

Just a stunning car.

I take it you mean the colour :D

So is it worth more modded, or kept in original spec ? This keeps cropping up over a number of marques and if its to use, modded, as an investment often in original spec. Does sound a fun car though.

Agree Andy - however, our 73 Mk1 escort was all but a pile of rust by 1984. Any still around now must have been lovingly cared for for years?
And probably restored within an inch of their lives mate.
