For sale is my Jan 2000 (Manufactured Sept 1999) Facelift 1.9l Z3 - 118HP M43 in Titanium Silver Metallic

I originally bought this car on a wine induced whim, sight unseen, from forum member JohnB on ebay. This was way before I knew this forum existed and the ‘addiction’ had started. John’s original forum advert for the car is here which describes its extensive documented history and "jet set" provenance before my ownership.

I won’t repeat what he wrote but let me pick up the story from where his thread left off.

I bought the car in April 2021 and since then it’s just turned over 56,000 miles. In that time it’s had a lot of care and money thrown at it. I am looking for an enthusiast owner who will cherish it, fix those bits I know still need doing …but most of all use it. I have always bought cars on maintenance over mileage, luckily this one has both.

MOT is due May 2024 having just passed with no advisories – MOT history is very solid with no fails for the last 8 years and all advisories being addressed. Feel free to take a look here https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/results?registration=v536efx

Below is the work done in my ownership, with all receipts and invoices available (easily the wrong side of 2.5k!). I have put hyperlinks to any of my posts on here that help document what was done.

25/03/23 – New Front Brake Calipers and Brake bleed

02/02/23 – Parking Dents Removed

12/07/22 – NEW Blaupunkt Valencia Bluetooth/DAB Stereo Fitted

11/05/22 – Refurbished BMW Steering rack (From WPS) fitted and new PS Fluid (MOT Advisory)

02/05/22 – New Lucas Alternator

29/04/22 – Set of Mazza’s finest tank straps fitted

23/04/22 – Fuel flap rubber stop How much!

05/02/22 – New BMW filler cap (Perished rubber seal) – Probably would have been an MOT advisory.

28/12/21 – Bosch S5008 Battery

11/11/21 – Replaced cracked front side light lens (Used genuine BMW again from Spurs fan)

25/09/21 – Gearbox and Diff Oil changed (BMW Specialist)

03/09/21 – New BMW Accelerator Cable

24/08/21 – Bosch Lambda/O2 Sensor (Fixed Engine fault code)

24/08/21 – New tie and track rods / Wheel alignment /15mm PCD Hub Centric Wheel Spacers fitted to rear wheels

19/06/21 – Rear Shocks (OEM Sachs) and drop links (MOT Advisory)

08/06/21 – Delphi (OEM) cam position sensor (Fixed Engine Fault code)

08/06/21 – Genuine BMW Vacuum hoses replaced (Fixed Engine Fault code)

08/06/21 – Genuine BMW Aerial grommet and aftermarket door handle seals replaced.

04/05/21 – Major service including brake fluid change and oil flush

27/04/21 – x4 Avon ZV7 Tyres (At least 6mm tread remaining now)

Bodywork is in very good condition for the age with just a few light scratches and small chips. No corrosion of note, very clean sills. Paintwork could easily be improved further by the new owner, I just never got to it on my list. The interior is also excellent showing very little wear. The belt restraints remain undamaged

Aircon was blowing cold last time I used it

Optional Trip computer which says I am getting 33 MPG.

The powered roof is very good but has started to leak a little in the bottom corners of the window. It looks like the stitching has perished. I usually keep it under a half cover (included) and don’t drive in the rain anyway so haven’t thought to get it replaced. With the overall good condition of the roof it would be worth looking at a repair rather than a replace.

Finally, if I was keeping the car I’d want to replace more of the bushes at the front as they are beginning to feel a little tired. Not huge mileage since the last service but would probably welcome an oil change.

Looking for £4250. I appreciate that may seem a lot in a sea of cheap 1.9s on the market but you don’t find many with this mileage or documented history. Very different car to the heavier 6 cylinder models, handles more like my old MX5 did, very chuckable in the bends. The car is sold as seen and without warranty, so viewing is recommended. I am in SO32 Hampshire about 15 mins from Junction 7 of the M27. I am happy to take any videos you want, do Zoom, Teams, Facetime calls if you are not local to me. Any questions please reply here or just drop me a PM

I will be putting it on ebay and Autotrader middle of the week for slightly…no…actually ..lots more. 😊

Thanks . Its a question of perspective really.. the M43 is very cheap to run and service and that engine is pretty bomb proof. The much lighter front end gives a very different drive to my 3.0l....more balanced, like a little go kart. Straight line speed is obviously less but around the bends its massive amounts of fun. Good job most of the roads I like to drive are bendy ;)

Yep, nice car, I used to have one. Mine was a 2002 topaz blue, fine on country lanes and motorways, but just not quite enough power when needed.

Well done that didn't take long - mind me asking which method you sold it via? Not that I'm thinking of selling #16 and getting #17 or anything
I put it on Autotrader and ebay as a classified ad. It sold via eBay. Lots more opportunity to expand on the description on eBay plus it was a third of the price of Autotrader. I got the price I listed it for on here.
