Not had the pleasure of driving the Z4, however, now that I have my 2.8 Z3 Roadster I'm hooked. I'd crawl a thousand miles on broken glass in a typhoon to keep Bella on the road for MANY more years of driving. Great car and by far the best car I've evrr had, stupid grin on my face whenever I drive her.:rally::scorecard::racecar:
The final line says it all Andy!

hi have a z3 and z4 and as said before the z4 is a different car, i class it a the next step up from the z3 as you would expect form bmw, no point of making a new model to be worse, the z3 is retro for me the z4 is just brill every thing i want from a sports car with in my price range, yet a car i never given a thought to till i saw this one and to say iam not disappointing with it is a big understatement,

In the words of my then 8 yr old granddaughter when she came and told me we should buy a project for us to work on. We had looked over a Z3 while on vacation and several months later saw a Z4. I asked what she had in mind and she said without hesitation a Z3 or a ford f150 pickup. Didn't need a pickup so asked her about the Z4. Her reply" it doesn't look like a sports car Gramps" So from the mouths of babes truth shall be spoken!! Now we have two Z3's. JIM

With my Z3 starting to show signs of corrosion I have toyed with the idea of buying an Audi A4 softtop in October and re building the Z3 over the winter, but that would mean two largish cars in the family and I really dont have time to spend on the Z3, So been casting my eye over the Z4 3.0, I will be honest, I really am not a fan of the Z4:whistle: but I want a two seater and cant find anything else that I would be happy with, so come October I may get myself a Z4:grumpy:, but it has to be a 3 litre, and Shiny Black.
Jim if you do go for the Z4 then all i can say is if you can afford it go for the Si version. 265bhp over the 231bhp of the first 3.0 and they go like stink

Well I have made my mind up the Z3 is going and going for a Z4, Some nice motors out there: Can I hang on until October? Brain is whirling now, might go have a look at this one if its still for sale over the weekend (Only just down the road from me), mileage higher than I wanted though: But got everything I want, but them 18" wheels look lost in the wheel arches! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2005-BMW-...000?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item463a963810

I Might go this evening, but really not in a ideal position to buy it yet, only enough room on the drive for two cars, so will need the Z3 to go ASAP, but still have the bodywork to complete, and I know if I like it I will come away with it, I tend to buy things with my heart when I should use my head.

Looks stunning, I would not worry about the mileage, its just run in :)

The only thing that puts me off the 4 is the front bumper, there is a factory Aero?? front bumper that transform the car and IMO looks far better.

Jim, we've only met once but let me try to be the voice of reason.
With what I've gone through this last week it makes you take stock of life. I have learnt that if you want something then go and bloody get it! We work hard for what we have and holding back isn't always the fair thing to do for yourself! You love your Zed's and you love what they bring you. If you think that cars right for you, it's local and it's in your price range then go have a look. Don't think what if next week if it's sold to someone else. Getting rid of your bond Mobil may just be a small excuse to hold back. Don't hold back Jim were only here once. :)

I agree, buttttttttttttt: I still dont like the Z4, Will I be like Gazhyde and regret selling my 3 for a 4, can I live with it? the 3 is only suffering from age (like us all) and needs a bit of surgery and TLC, If i Spent £2000-£2500 on her I would put her back to her former glory with a half decent respray and wheel refurb. I am really in two minds about what to do, My wife wants me to get rid of the 3 and go for the 4. Fully commited first thing this morning on getting a 4, but sat here in my office looking into the carpark and she still looks good, No Doubt about it I will miss her if she goes.

Reasons Not To Buy It:

1) Its not a Z3
2) Its a Z4
3) Its the first car I have looked at
4) Its Black (bugger to keep clean)
5) Its not a Z3
6) Its a Z4
7) Its the first sign of me getting old
8) The Tax is more expensive
9) No one will look at my car during cruises, to busy admiring the Z3's Retro Look.
10) MTM has one
11) I cant keep both:(

Technically I never sold my Z3, I lent it to a mate so kind of had both at the same time. One thing I will say Jim is that a Z4 really is not a disappointment, it's just different to what your used to.

You won't be disappointed by the comfort (not in those Sport seats), the power (230bhp) or the increase in driver comforts in general. Its a bloody good car full stop.

I can honestly say the only thing that made me get rid of it was that I was not ready to not have a Z3 quite yet! If I could have afforded to keep both then I probably would still have both, but I had 3 cars at the time and I needed the extra seats in the MINI. It was the logical car to sell.

Oh, and it's black with red leather Sport seats and BBS 108 Alloys... BUY IT... lol
